Make me a channel of your peace
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
In giving to all men that we receive
And in dying that we're born to eternal life.(Chorus)

Declaration of Dependence

God’s statement:

My takeover
I AM your life

You declare to yourself and to the world that:

  1. You live and breathe God- He is your beginning and your end.

  2. God is the one who is responsible for you – He is the cause and the effect.

Dependence on God is not just about provision but complete possession. It’s God’s life and no longer yours. Then, when one says: “To God be the glory”, it is a statement of fact.

My struggle with dependency on God stemmed from values I held dear on being responsible for myself and others. I viewed the act of completely handing over what I thought is my responsibility to God an act of irresponsibility in itself. My protective instinct towards myself and those I love kicked in, only to realize that from the time I started the journey, nothing was in my control - He took over me and my life. I accepted what God has been offering from the very start- to leave all to His care. I finally said: “ God, I am your responsibility. Whatever happens to me and my life is all up to you and it is all because of you.” The burden of responsibility was lifted off my shoulder – God gets all the credit or the blame. Everything is God’s doing.

Question: If you are responsible for everything, what am I responsible for?

God’s answer:

To follow Me, to be with Me and to stay with Me.
That is all.
